Stop panic attacks

Article by Brendan Davis

Panic attacks are among the disorders that their causes are not clear. This makes diagnosing and treating them a challenge. As much that is the case, there are a number of ways that are used to stop panic attacks. They include taking drugs and going for psychotherapy treatments to stop anxiety attacks. The condition is mostly common among the people between ages 18 and 55 but that does not mean children do not experience the condition. The fact is they do face the disorders and as a parent learning how to spot the symptoms and how to stop panic attacks is important. One thing that you need to know when it comes to how to stop anxiety attacks in children is that they are bound to inform about the physical signs of the disorder and not psychological ones.

To learn how to stop panic attacks in your child, you need to make an effort of finding out what is troubling them as the cause is likely to be something they are going through in life. This can range from what you may consider as minor problems to major ones like arguments between parents of separation and even death of a family member. As a parent, to stop panic attacks in your kid, you need to make sure that the environment they live in, be it school or at home is calm and does not make them so anxious to an extent that they will get a panic attack. If you know that you child suffers from the disorder, you should inform those people who handle him or her on a daily basis, these include house helps, teachers and so on as this will go a long way to stop anxiety attacks.

The other way to stop panic attacks in children is taking them for a psychological treatment. This is usually an initial treatment you should consider seeking for your child as it will help establish the cause. Chances are your child is troubled mentally and they are afraid to tell you because they fear you. This can cause anxiety and in order to stop anxiety attacks you need to enroll them into therapy sessions. Psychotherapy will not only help find the root cause but will also help stop panic attacks by reducing the symptoms of anxiety.

Since you will not be with your child all the time, it is imperative that they are taught how to stop panic attacks by themselves. This can be done through CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), which is a program that can help them learn skills that will help the stop anxiety attacks by recognizing, and dealing with negative thoughts and the reactions that follow. The child needs to learn on how to think and act positive if they are to stop panic attacks.

Other than the above, you can initiate home treatment methods to stop anxiety attacks in your child. These include making the environment between you and him or her as friendly as possible and listen to them instead of judging them. You need to be open with your child as it is the only way they are going to open up to you and thus help you stop anxiety attacks. You can also praise them
