How to stop panic attacks is something that every one must know even if there is no personal danger of suffering from them. A panic attack is a short period of time during which the victim feels uncontrollable fear and anxiety that results in a loss of self-control and erratic behavior with symptoms that, to the victim, are life threatening in their nature. How to stop panic attacks means knowing what the various symptoms mean and imply and how to conquer them. For example a person suffering from panic attack may feel any combination of the following symptoms like palpitation, trembling, nausea, sweating, dizziness, chills, choking, and so on.

A panic attack may last from just a few minutes to as much as half an hour. The longer the panic attack the greater the trauma suffered by the victim. The sensations during an attack are extremely unpleasant and they are all layered with the fear of death and impending doom. This might not sound rational but you must know that rational thinking is one of the first things to go during a panic attack. There is a sense of unreality about the whole universe and the lack of sense is not easy to understand for someone who has never had to ponder on how to stop panic attacks through sheer good fortune of never having suffered one.

To further complicate matters, there is often nothing to indicate the trigger of a panic attack. The first few steps in how to stop panic attacks focus on finding these triggers and then figuring out what about them is starting the attacks. There are many common reasons for panic attacks. For example people who are afraid of making public speeches will start having the attacks weeks before they are actually supposed to speak. What this implies is that the whole approach for how to stop panic attacks has nothing to do with public speaking but the fear of the fear of public speaking. The victim is, in other words, self-inducing a panic attack by focusing on what will happen during the speech.

In order to know how to stop panic attacks you must be able to pay attention to the details of your body’s reactions to one. This will help you to precisely know the nature of the cause behind the attacks. Though this sound easy it is not for some people and they must seek medical attention. The only thing worse than having panic attacks is enduring them without trying to cure them. This continued exposure to uncontrollable fear would ultimately lead the patient to develop a chronic condition with the fear being triggered by more and more circumstances until their whole life is reduced to a shell of older times and they will become increasingly withdrawn and distant from the world around them.

There are many options available for help on how to stop panic attacks. Mild cases may be treated with simple counseling while other cases might require a combination of therapy with prescription drugs to help cope with the negativity involved with
