Adolescents Thinking Of Suicide Says Canada Pharmacy Will Experience Chronic Pain : Chronic Pain

Chronic Pain

Article by Peterlewis

Suicidal ideation is nothing new, but if it occurs in adolescents, they are likely to also experience chronic pain. A new research study was published in the Journal of Pain covering the analysis in detail. Our Canada pharmacy learns more about the implications of thinking about suicide and its relation to pain in adolescents.Detailed Study Connects Pain with Risk of SuicideThe detailed study was conducted by researchers from Duke University and Lehman College in New York, and University of North Carolina. They analyzed data from the National Longitudinal Study Of Adolescent Health and tried to link chronic pain with additional risk of suicidal ideation and attempt to commit suicide. An assessment was made relating pain to suicidal ideation and comorbid depression.Earlier studies have established a relation between chronic pain and the urge to commit suicide. If the pain was severe enough and quite unbearable, people found themselves thinking of suicide more often than not. In the year 2009, around 14% adolescents accepted thinking of suicide and 6% actually attempted it.The current study tries to associate chronic pain and suicide ideation with the help of collected data. For example, the first question asked was, “During the past 12 months, did you ever seriously think about committing suicide?” The second question was, “During the past 12 months, how many times did you attempt suicide?” Another factor considered was depression which was measured using standard depression measurement scales. Results from the study clearly indicated age was immaterial in terms of generating suicidal tendencies in connection with chronic pain. Canadian online pharmacies find gender did not matter among adolescents as well; however, severe pain was mostly connected with depression. A direct relation was established between chronic pain, comorbid depression, and increased risk of suicidal attempts. The solution to reduce suicide ideation was possible with early detection and treatment of chronic pain and related comorbid psychiatric disorders. Adolescents need to differentiate between acute and chronic pain and then take action. Researchers believe acute pain lasts for a month while chronic pain usually occurs for more than six months. In other words, pain extending beyond the normal expected period of healing is dangerous and can lead to
